Empowering community birth providers with specialized skills for safe, family-centered care.

Meet Kirby

I am a husband to a midwife, a dad to two, and a registered nurse. For the past eight years, I have worked in a Level 4 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and currently work in a Neonatal and Pediatric Transport Program. Throughout these years, I have witnessed firsthand the critical importance of following the steps outlined in the Neonatal Resuscitation Program; these steps can significantly improve outcomes for newborns. This necessity is even more pronounced when attending births at birth centers or in home settings, where resources can be limited. Out-of-hospital birth providers deserve training that caters to their unique work environment and honors their commitment to sensitive, family-centered care.

I founded this company to support community midwives, midwifery students, birth assistants, doulas, and even parents seeking additional information on how to effectively care for their newborns in case of emergencies with the resources that are most readily available to them.

In-Person Training

After an out-of-hospital specific lecture, we spend time familiarizing each student with equipment and perform skill simulations based upon scenarios that midwives would most commonly encounter.

“Little Lungs Resuscitation Training was the best one yet! As a homebirth Midwife, I’ve been to many NRP trainings that just went through the motions to “cover” what was needed. Most were also hospital oriented, which really felt like needing to learn their system, not learning to sharpen skills and be prepared for emergencies in the homebirth setting.  Kirby’s class was very different, not only was it comprehensive into whys and hows, he tailored it to fit the group of Midwives.  He was knowledgeable about what we do and what we have available as well as providing many different hands on scenarios to put our skills into practice.  I appreciated this class so much, will recommend it to all Midwives in our area, and look forward to next time!”
